I Loved You So, My Child

''I Loved You So, My Child''

Words and Music by Daryl Stout

1. ''What more could I have done for you?? I loved you so, my child!!
So much that I was spat upon, whipped, cursed, and reviled.
I wanted you, and loved you so, with all My Life and Heart;
But it was to be your sins that would tear us both apart''.

2. ''When you crowned Me with that crown of thorns, the pain it was so great;
But I bore it all for you, my child, for I taught to love, not hate.
You put that old rugged Cross onto My bleeding back;
and whenever I fell under it, you made that coarse whip crack
Onto My bleeding, hurting flesh, stinging with the tinge of sin.
And on that hilltop, you nailed Me to that Cross again, and again''.

3. ''And each time that hammer fell, it echoed all around;
Then you raised Me and that Cross into the air above the ground.
You scorned Me hanging on that Cross as it stood there in its stand;
but My Love and your sins held me there, not those nails in My Hands!!
The pain, it did not stop My Love, for dying, I prayed for you:
'Dear Father, please forgive them; for they don't know what they do'.
I did not want to see you die, and I cried 'I'll take his place';
For I wanted you into My Father's Prescence to show your face''.

Bridge: ''I cried out 'It is finished!!', then I died, and bowed My head.
But I conquered death that Easter morn in rising from the dead!!''

Spoken: The key change symbolizes The Resurrection...for with it, The Victory Is Won!!

4. ''And now, I live in Heaven, beside My Father's Throne;
Waiting for you to come to Me, so I can take you home.
I stand and wait for you to answer, as I knock on the door of your heart.
For if you let Me come inside, we'll fellowship, and never part.''

Ending: ''In my Father's House, I've prepared a place for you.
You'll reign with Me in glory, and there'll be happiness in all you do.
Accept Me now, and forevermore, we'll share sadness, and the smiles;
For I gave My all, My Life for you, because I loved you so, my child!!
My child, My child, My child, My child!!''
