The Lasting Treasure

''The Lasting Treasure''

Based on Matthew 6:19-20

Written By Daryl Stout

1. You only have one life to live; be careful what you ask.
Be righteous, truthful in your deeds; not behind a mask.
For all your deeds and your life will both soon be past.
And only those things, done for Christ, will eternally last.

2. Don't store up treasures on the earth, for temporal they are.
They can be corrupted, stolen, and they won't get far.
For all the wealth and riches won't go past the grave.
And, from God's Judgment for your sin...none of these will save.

3. ''Your righteousness is filthy rags'', declares God's Only Son.
He Who will judge all mankind, when time on earth is done.
For if wood, hay, and stubble, were all done by your breath;
All of these are worthless, as you face eternal death.

4. But, there's still time...you can get rich, in a Heavenly way.
First, admit that you're a sinner...come to Christ today.
Accept Him as your Lord and Saviour; He lived and died for you.
And, rose again victorious...Him and His Word are true.

5. Store up treasures in Heaven above, free from all decay.
Gold, silver, precious stones...ministering each day.
Live for Christ, tell mankind, Christ's Blood will cleanse each taint.
For Precious in the eyes of Christ, is the death of all His Saints.

6. Then, when you stand before the Bema Judgment Seat Of Christ.
You'll praise Him for His Great Love Gift; for sin, He paid the price.
To redeem mankind from being lost, was Our Lord's Good Pleasure.
And, you'll see, eternally, Christ is The Lasting Treasure.
