My late father had a 1963 Volkswagen, which ran until his death in early, 2007...at which time, it was sold to the Central Arkansas Volks Folks, of which he was a member. He had traveled to several shows with his VW, and it had over 315,000 miles on it, when he died.

2) I've had it, and driven it for many miles;
Filled with fond memories, and many smiles.
3) Taken care of it lovingly with special care;
To show it off proudly at Shows everywhere.
4) It has been through all weather, both sun and the rain;
Floated waters, hunted squirrels, and things on the plain.
5) Folks see it, admire it, and inquire ''How Old?'';
''I had one just like it'', is what I was told.
6) Some want to know if my gem is for sale...
But, I couldn't sell it; deep feelings prevail.
7) I've maintained it, painted it, and kept it real clean;
It drives like a classic, and runs like a dream.
8) Over 250,000 miles are shown,
From all of the roads and streets it has known.
9) A '64 model, a classic, still strong;
Traveling with its riders along.
10) Great mileage it gets from times of refuel;
Rides the road smoothly...VW's rule!!
11) So much could be said, about this small car;
That's special to me, and dear to my heart.
12) But, I cherish it lovingly, like one of my own;
To drive around town, to church, or at home.
13) And, that's why my Volkswagen is special to me;
From all that it is, to my friends, and to me.
